With reference to your Despatch 4244/08/C.S.0. of June 28th.
on the subject of Canton currency, I have the honour to transmit to
Your Excellency herewith copy of a Note dated July 9th, which I
addressed to the Wai u Pu on this subject in the sense of the
suggestion contained in paragraph 4 of your Despatch under acknOW-
ledgment. When a reply is received 1 shall not fail to communicate
it to Your Excellency.

by the Wai Wu Pu that a telegram on the subject has
already been sent to the Viceroy of Canton.
